NOTES:
a. Through his marriage with Maud de Surdeval, he received additional lands in Yorkshire, including the manor of Hooten (Paynell), which passed to their son, Jordan Paynel. When he died s.p., the manor then passed to their youngest son, Alexander. Ralph also had an older son, William, presumably by an earlier marriage, to whom passed his holdings in Drax, co. York, as well as manors in Somerset and Devon.

b. Alexander, by his marriage to Agnes Fossard, received land in Bramham.

c. His heirs were his two daughters, Frethesent Luttrell and Isabel Bastard.
