    Sir Ralph de Cromwell b abt 1292/93, of Cromwell, Nottinghamshire, and West Hallam, Derbyshire, England, d 1335. He md Joan de la Mare abt 1310. She was b abt 1297, d 1328.

    Elizabeth Cromwell b abt 1358, of Tattershall, Lincolnshire, England, d 1393/94. She md Sir John de Clifton abt 1371, son of Constantine de Clifton and Katherine de la Pole.


NOTES:
a. Son and heir of Ralph de Cromwell, of Cromwell, Nottinghamshire, West Hallam, Derbyshire, etc., he son and heir of Ralph, son and heir of Hugh, son and heir of Haldane, temp. Henry II. He was with the King in the Army of Wales, and summoned for military service 12 Dec 1276 to 28 Jun 1283.

b. She was the second daughter and coheir (in her issue) of Philip Marmion of Scrivelsby, Lincolnshire, and Tamworth, Warwickshire. She died s.p.m., her only child being Joan, wife of Alexander de Freville; they became the ancestors of the Frevilles of Tamworth.

c. Second wife, she survived Ralph, and in 1293 took the veil.

d. Edward II's notorious chief baron of the Exchequer.

e. By his marriage to Maud Bernake he acquired the estate of Tattershall, livery being granted to them 18 Mar 1366/67. He was summoned to Parliament from 28 Dec 1375 to 6 Nov 1397, whereby he became Lord Cromwell. A Banneret, he was retained by the King in the event of an invasion.
